Dictation Manager

Dictation Manager records the doctor's dictation in the form of wave files and sends it to the DataCenter, which then routes them to transcription centers. The process begins with the doctor dictating into a microphone or a similar handheld device. Dictation Manager gives status reports based on various criteria, plays back dictation and retrieves transcribed files. It also has the facility for affixing electronic signatures or rejecting the transcribed data. In large hospitals where there is a need for central storage, Dictation Manager communicates with CentralDB.

The dictations are recorded in wave-file format, and every dictation that gets recorded is assigned a unique file name. These files are then compressed into the GSM format and sent to the transcription centers. Once transcription is accomplished, Dictation Manager automatically picks up the transcribed files from the DataCenter. While going through a transcribed document, one could also listen to its corresponding voice file through the Voice Integrated Editor. Dictation Manager is rendered serviceable through either a dial-up connection or a direct Internet connection.
